Change is always a challenge. Moving from one type of ADC to another is no exception.
In many cases, admins spend a lot of time learning how to do things in a way that’s tied to the hardware they use.
For example, when admins using F5’s BIG-IP ADCs want to customize the way these devices manage application traffic, they write scripts using iRules.
The truth is that iRules is complicated. If you doubt this, look at these two scripts for categorizing SSL traffic by protocol version. The one on the left is written in iRules. The one on the right is written for NetScaler.
Clearly, switching to NetScaler makes your admins more efficient. But we often hear a variant on the following concern:
“We’ve really fine-tuned iRules. We’ve got it just how we like it. The engineers have spent the past three years configuring it. I don’t want to start that three-year cycle again.”
It’s a fair question. Starting again from scratch isn’t an attractive option.
So here’s the good news:
You don’t need to start from scratch.
Instead, you can use our iRules to NetScaler Conversion Guides. These take you through the process of converting your F5 iRules into policies on NetScaler. If you have been using iRules and would like to create the same functionality on NetScaler, our guides simplify the process.
